2024 marked the 5-year anniversary of TU Delft OPEN Publishing (TUDOP)
Publications Highlights | Books
In April 2024, we reached the milestone of 100 books published. The landmark textbook publication was “From the Theory to application learning to optimise with Operations Research in an interactive way”, authored by Alessandro Bombelli from the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Stefano Fazi and Doris Boschma from the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management and Bilge Küçük Atasoy from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
This year also marks the revival of a 19th-century PhD thesis that was initially published in Latin and the establishment of two new partnerships: Leiden-Delft-Erasmus (LDE) & Jap Sam Books.

Changing Publication Culture

The Changing Publication Culture project works as an umbrella for several initiatives that collaborate on this subject. In 2024, we’ve organised a conference to hear from faculties, publishers and other stakeholders. We’ve also reached out to several faculties to explore their concerns, wishes and needs related to this topic. We asked to invest in collaboratively mapping their current publication culture, and we can explore what they want their publication culture to become.
Establishing & furthering Partnerships
- Partnership with Jap Sam Books, an independent publisher in the field of architecture, art, philosophy, design, and photography, which includes journals and books. The first of these publications was part of the series Ecologies of Architecture.
- The co-publishing partnership with Nai010 Publishing was extended to another year.
- We have an active role in the Netherlands University Presses (NUPs), the consortium of Dutch institutional presses.
- In 2024 the National Diamond Open Access Expertise Centre was established. The National Diamond Open Access Expertise Centre is part of the program Strengthening Diamond Open Access in the Netherlands, funded by the Universities of the Netherlands (UNL) and was launched by the Dutch Consortium of University Libraries (UKB) to reinforce and future-proof the national Diamond Open Access publishing landscape. We are active members of the Expertise Centre, sharing their expertise and advise to the wider community.
- Leiden-Delft-Erasmus (LDE) partnership
The collaboration between Leiden University, TU Delft, and Erasmus University Rotterdam is in the form of a strategic alliance. This means that the three universities collaborate on the basis of a shared vision and shared objectives in specific areas. They work with societal partners and seek to form a basis for further academic and public-private partnerships. We act as the publishing partner of the book series and offer support to the community.
